Mattress fund...
From the first time we arrived in Central Asia, we recognized the need for mattresses... they are seen as a luxury... yet sleeping on a mattress rather then a floor or a plain board can be the difference between life and death on a cold winter night.
... Many of the mattresses that are in circulation are very old and musty, and in many cases urine soaked from years of use by neglected individuals..... Even in the hospital, patients are expected to bring there own mattress if they need a bed... .Money has been raised to purchase sewing machines and needed supplies for them so that they can not only become self sufficient, but they will be able to produce mattresses for us far cheaper then we are currently paying . In another part of town, workers at a textile plant have faced cut backs because of the economic conditions... they are now paid in product not money... by purchasing material from them, we can return these families to a place of sustainability. by sponsoring a mattress, you make a difference in so many lives...those with no warm bed.... those with no job...and those who have a job, but are just not getting paid...By sponsoring a mattress for only $15, you can help us bring hope and restore dignity to those that the world has

Sarybaev, Toltu and Temirlan
Dream agent Laurisa with Toltu on the way home from school.Sarybaev, Toltu and Temirlan live in Iskra... The mother died a few years ago, and the father Sarybaev works very hard to look after his kids. He works in the fields, as well as collecting bottles to sell and also cuts wood. He always provides for his kids first and is a good father. He is sad that he can not provide more for his kids; they need food, clothes and books to go to school. This is more then he is able to provide... we would like to provide a sponsorship for them so that some of these needs can be met. We are looking for a sponsorship of $55 a month to supplement their income. Sarybaev has reached the point that he cannot dream... but we have a Dream for him! We would like to find him a cheep car or a motorcycle for him! Right now it takes him almost 2 hours to walk to work - If he had a car, he could work more, AND be able to spend more time with the kids. We have found a small care that would be reliable, and the owner has agreed to sell it for $250 .

Aleksandr volunteers his time and abilities every day to provide a barber service to 250 disabled men in the home for invalid men. Larissa would like to totally remodel the room; repair the floor and walls and give it a fresh coat of paint, then get a new set of razors and clippers to complete this makeover... If you have ever seen the alternative to a good hair
cut, you would understand the need for this... One of the things that struck me when going into an institution for the first time is the number of scars and cuts on the kids' heads... I asked if it was from beatings... No... it was from bad haircuts!SD-20 Sergey operation
Letter from Dream agent Anya Hello dear John.I have one mail for you and for iam1ru . And I hope what some people try help. After what heppend with Sergey Sharapov, he is come in our home and cry and to fall to knees.
"My name is Sergey Sharapov. I'm 30 years old and I'm married. I live in Kyrgyzstan in town of Tokmok. I work as a miller at a small mill. an accident occurred to me at my work. My
hand got into shafting that break up wheat, and my right hand fingers were crushed and I got burn on my palm.During the first surgery, doctors stitched remains of my fingers, amputated two last finger bones and removed burned skin from my palm. Two weeks later I had the second surgery on skin transplantation. I now need microsurgical operation in order to save my fingers function. The operation approximately will cost $1100; the cost includes different medicine and staying at the
hospital. I don't have such money" This one is particularly difficult for me because I have shook that hand; it was extended to me in a gesture of kindness... he is good man... he works hard to support his family, and he is generous with those around him. These are the kind of hands that we need to invest in.
LaJoy Family Christmas Challange
Just when we thought we were all done, I received an email from our P.I. Dream Agent with some great news… When they got to the Circus part of the Christmas party with all the kids, (that was sponsored by many of you through the Lajoy Family Challenge) the managers there were so touched by the generosity that they wanted to have a part in it… All the kids got in for free! Can you believe that?! They saw the joy and the excitement that giving had created, and they were infected… They stepped up and declared “iam1ru”! So the Christmas party continues.... After confirming this news with the Lajoys , it was decided that the money saved should go to any emergency needs that should arise.
If you have been following the actofkindness blog, you will know that it has been a very difficult
was the place… Over the last couple weeks, we had some donations of socks and blankets from iam1ru sponsors, so we gathered a group of musicians and friends of PI and sent them out to deliver food and gifts, as well as to bring a little distraction from every day life…
What a blessing it was as the excitement filled that place! There was singing and dancing as well as some one on one time with the men.
They even had the opportunity to do some crafts and
painting…
If only for a moment, these poor men remembered that they are loved. They have been given a chance to dream of better days ahead. Once again we thank all of you for your incredible support… I bet you never dreamed
this challenge could make such an impact. The Lajoy Christmas Challenge has brought such JOY. We would also like to thank all those that sponsored socks and under wear for the men. (SD-03 Speechless )along with those that sponsored the blankets (SD-07 Blankets ) You have impacted them more then you will ever know.
Meet Dr Ruth
The secret to the sucess in every thing that iam1ru does is the people that we partner with ... the DREAM AGENTS... people that are impacting those around them despite the economic difficulties they face... Today we would like to introduce you to our newest DREAM AGENT... Please meet DR. RUTH ...
We are thrilled to partner with Dr. Ruth Peever and her work in the Philippines. We are excited
to have someone of Dr. Ruth's character added as one of our Dream Agents. We are so impressed with her heart for orphans and the hurting, helpless and hopeless children of the Cordillera Mountains. At iam1ru we are believing for an incredible impact in 1000's of children's
lives. As you can see from the pics Dr. Ruth is making quite an impact. I am sure that we will see and hear lots from Dr. Ruth in the months and years to come. We recently had the opportunity to discuss with Dr Ruth her visions for her family... the ones that she loves... She shared with us an incredible story of a young lady that volunteers with her ...her name is "Jocelyn"
Jocelyn is a university grad and in her early 30's. What happens is that when they receives some donations (enough for a class at a time 30 or so) Jocelyn goes to market and purchases the items in the picture to make up 30 hygiene kits.
Jocelyn then goes by bus and then up into the mountains by foot to deliver these gifts to the kids - one class at a time. These kids are so poor that they do onto have any footwear to wear to school (that's why the flipflops) and all they get for food is rice boiled in water with some salt. They do not have soaps or shampoos and apparently they have to wash their hair with mud of all things! just think of the logistics of this sort of a trip... along with the shopping , Jocelyn must arrange transportation and escorts to help her make it to the remote villages... and all this she can do for only $15 Canadian. a child..., but just imagine the impact that she will have.
They would like to become farmers and could start on pig farming if someone would sponsor $400 to buy the first 6 pigs and $250 to build a proper pig pen they could take it from there . | Canadian Sponsors |

SD-18 DIGNITY
Men you might want to turn on the game for a couple minutes here…. I will try to be discreet
There comes a time in every young girl’s life that things start to happen… In North America, we have advanced to the point that Mother and Daughter will often see this as a time of celebration… a recognition that Daughter is becoming a young lady… I want you to imagine going through that in an orphanage with 40 or 50 others… there is no celebration… there is no Mother to explain and to mentor… and there is no access to hygiene products. This is something that some of our Dream Agents are working hard to change… They teach and mentor the young girls so they know what to expect and know what is happening. Our Agents have asked us if we could please find a way to provide these girls with these basic necessities… The answer is so simple and affordable… Only $7 a month for a young girl can change her outlook on life… it can restore DIGNITY .
